Sam Zakutney takes the early lead in the MVP watch for the 2019 NCAA gymnastics season. For the next fourteen weeks we will be ranking the top 20 gymnasts in the running to become the 2019 GymnasticsVille College MVP. The MVP that will be determined after the championship<\/a> season.<\/p>\n

  1. Sam Zakutney (Penn State)<\/strong>: Sam Zakutney scored 81 points at Penn State\u2019s season opener at the West Point Open. He also was named Big Ten gymnast of the week for his performance.<\/li>\n
  2. Grant Breckenridge (Stanford)<\/strong>: Grant Breckenridge is healthy and ready to go. He posted the second highest all-around score of the week with a 80.750.<\/li>\n
  3. Anton Stephenson (Nebraska)<\/strong>: Anton Stephenson has the Huskers in a position to contend this year and scored 80.3 points at the Rocky Mountain Open.<\/li>\n
  4. Matt Wenske (Oklahoma)<\/strong>: Matt Wenske is back from last years season ending surgery and picked up the slack for Oklahoma\u2019s season opener at the Rocky Mountain by scoring 80.1 points.<\/li>\n
  5. Cole Casanova (Army)<\/strong>: Cole Casanova was on fire at the West Point Open. He scored 80.050 points. Let\u2019s see if Casanova can keep this momentum going throughout the season.<\/li>\n
  6. Michael Fletcher (Illinois)<\/strong>: Illinois has a freshman sensation; Michael Fletcher began his career with the all-around title against UIC scoring 80.50 points.<\/li>\n
  7. Alec Yoder (Ohio State)<\/strong>: Alec Yoder scored the highest score of the week on parallel bars (14.850) and the third highest on pommel horse (14.550). Look for Yoder to move up on the MVP rankings once he competes in the all-around in the upcoming weeks.<\/li>\n
  8. Alex Diab (Illinois)<\/strong>: Alex Diab is a beast on rings and is one of the strongest gymnasts in the nation. He proved it once again by posting the highest score on Rings (15.050).<\/li>\n
  9. Yul Moldauer (Oklahoma)<\/strong>: Yul Moldauer eased into the season opener by competing on two events and scoring 28 points. Moldauer, last years all-around champion is looking to move up in the ranks once he starts competing on all six events.<\/li>\n
  10. Brody Malone (Stanford)<\/strong>: Brody Malone is looking to have a big freshman year. Right out of the gates at the Cal Benefit Cup Malone scored 80 points.<\/li>\n
  11. Vitali Kan (Minnesota)<\/strong>: Vitali Kan posted the highest score of the week on vault at the Rocky Mountain Open.<\/li>\n
  12. Lukas Texeira (Air Force)<\/strong>: Lukas Texeira scored 14.450 points on high bar at the Rocky Mountain Open, the top score on the event for week 2.<\/li>\n
  13. Timmy Kutyla (Minnesota)<\/strong>: Timmy Kutyla hit a clean set on high bar scoring 13.8 points at the Rocky Mountain Open.<\/li>\n
  14. Bailey Perez (Stanford)<\/strong>: Bailey Perez is top eight in scoring through week 2. At the Cal Benefit Cup Perez scored 78.9 points.<\/li>\n
  15. Johnny Jacobson (Illinois)<\/strong>: Johnny Jacobson was impressive last week by scoring 78.700 points.<\/li>\n
  16. Darren Wong (California)<\/strong>: Darren Wong seems to be settling into his freshman year at Cal. He scored 77.700 points at the Cal Benefit Cup<\/li>\n
  17. Alex Frack (Penn State)<\/strong>: Alex Frack started his sophomore year scoring 77.900 points at the West Point Open. Frack\u2019s performance shows he is going to be counted on a lot this season for Penn State.<\/li>\n
  18. Michael Paradise (Illinois)<\/strong>: Michael Paradise swings pommel horse so smooth. He is currently ranked first on the event.<\/li>\n
  19. Shane Wiskus (Minnesota)<\/strong>: Last years Big Ten Freshman of the year did not compete in the all-around at the Rocky Mountain Open, but still posted the fourth highest score for week 2 on pommel horse (14.100).<\/li>\n
  20. Connor Lewis (Stanford)<\/strong>: Connor Lewis scored 14.7 points on Floor at the Cal Benefit Cup, the highest score of the weekend of this event.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
