Olympic gymnast Yul Moldauer and Wolf Wear founder Ian Jeppsen celebrating the launch of the Yul Moldauer signature gymnastics grip line
Olympian Yul Moldauer, right, celebrates the launch of his signature grip line with Wolf Wear founder Ian Jeppsen. The Yul Moldauer V1 Signature Grip debuts at the 2026 U.S. Championships.

Olympian Yul Moldauer is launching his first signature gymnastics grip line, and it arrives just in time for the biggest domestic meet of the year. The Yul Moldauer signature grip line, produced in partnership with American gymnastics brand Wolf Wear, debuts as a limited release at the 2026 Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships in Phoenix, GymCrew Talent Management announced.

The V1 line covers both high bar and still rings, and every pair is handcrafted in the United States from premium leather. It is the first chapter of what both sides describe as an ongoing partnership, not a one-off product drop.

Moldauer, a 2020 Olympian and two-time World medalist, is expected to compete in Phoenix when the men take the floor August 6 and August 8 at Mortgage Matchup Center. The championships run August 6 through August 9 and serve as the qualifying event for the American roster heading to the 2026 World Championships in Rotterdam this October.

Inside the Yul Moldauer Signature Grip

The V1 is built around a dual-buckle, high-strength fastener system engineered for a locked-in, zero-slip fit. For anyone who has fought a stretched buckle mid-routine, that is not a marketing line. It is the difference between trusting a release move and second-guessing it.

Each grip carries the line’s signature marking, Embrace the Grind, a nod to the training that never makes it to the broadcast.

A Signature Moment for Moldauer

For Moldauer, the line represents a milestone in a career built as much on longevity and comeback as on hardware.

“Working with Wolf Wear has been nothing but a true gift. To feel the support from a brand, especially in men’s gymnastics, doesn’t go unnoticed or unfelt. Over the past few months we have been coming up with different versions that have that elite feel and reliability.”

That support matters, and the timing says a lot. Brands are starting to invest in men’s artistic gymnastics ahead of a home Olympics, and a signature line built around an athlete’s own input is what that investment looks like in practice.

It is also a blueprint worth copying. The men’s side comes with a devoted audience of gyms, coaches, and families who buy what they see the national team wearing, and the companies moving now will build those relationships long before LA 2028 makes the space crowded. Wolf Wear is not waiting for the field to fill in.

Moldauer said the message stamped on the grip carries weight beyond the equipment itself.

“To be able to send a message on a grip every time you put them on also has a huge meaning to me, and hopefully can inspire people to truly embrace their journey, whether that’s gymnastics or life.”

Wolf Wear and the Case for American Craftsmanship

Wolf Wear was founded by Ian Jeppsen as an American manufacturer of gymnastics grips and accessories. The partnership pairs a growing USA-made brand with one of the most recognizable names in men’s gymnastics.

“Working with Yul was very natural and authentic to our brand. He shares our passion for gymnastics and creating a grip that’s innovative.”

Ian Jeppsen, founder of Wolf Wear

Jeppsen framed the company’s mission in blunt terms.

“Wolf Wear is built on the idea that athletes shouldn’t have to endure painful and unreliable grips. Your training should never be held back by the equipment.”

Ian Jeppsen, founder of Wolf Wear

Grips are one of the few pieces of gear a gymnast genuinely cannot compromise on. Rips, slipping dowels, and buckles that loosen over a season are not inconveniences. They cost training days, and training days are the currency of an elite gymnastics career.

Why the Timing Matters

Launching the Yul Moldauer signature grip at the U.S. Championships is a deliberate choice. Phoenix is where the men’s World Championships team will be named, which makes it the most-watched week on the domestic men’s calendar and the single best moment to put a product in front of the audience that will actually use it.

The gyms and coaches who buy grips in bulk will be in the building. So will the junior athletes who watch what the national team is wearing and ask their parents for the same thing three weeks later.

For Moldauer, the competitive stakes run parallel to the business ones. He is targeting the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, with Rotterdam in October as the next checkpoint. A signature line launching now positions the brand alongside a two-year push toward a home Games.

Where to Buy the V1 Grip

What Comes Next

Both sides have described the V1 as the first chapter rather than the whole book, which leaves room for additional models, additional events, and a longer runway of product built around the same idea. For now, the story is simple. An American gymnast and an American manufacturer put their names on the same piece of leather and timed it to the week the sport is watching.
